Trainees
- Interpret regulations, rules and guidance from the General Medical Council (GMC), European Union (EU) and Gold Guide
- Provide training and curriculum advice
- Recommend trainees for addition to the Specialist Register
- Maintain a record of training
- Out of programme (OOP) Applications: processing and advice
- Provide Penultimate Year Assessment (PYAs) or Penultimate Year Review (PYRs) advice
- Process the completion of training forms
- Provide an online portal called ePortfolio for recording evidence of progression
- Provide guidance on less than full time (LTFT) training queries
- Provide mediator role between trainee and training organisations when appropriate
General Medical Council (GMC)
- Provide recommendations on trainees completing training through CCT, including responding to audits of trainee files
- Provide recommendations for the award of CESR, including training CESR evaluators to consistent level
- Share best practice from a national perspective to influence application of rules and regulations
- Assist and engage with new processes and initiatives to improve processes for both organisations
- Work with the GMC to provide CESR evaluator training
Training programme directors (TPDs)
- Provide good practice examples from a national perspective
- Provide general training and curriculum advice
- Provide assistance in setting up and recording Penultimate Year Assessments or Penultimate Year Reviews
- Interpret regulations, rules and guidance from GMC, EU and Gold Guide
Specialist advisory committees (SACs)
- Support the processing of:
- Training completions
- Out of programme applications
- Penultimate Year Assessments or Penultimate Year Reviews
- Organise attendance at CESR evaluator training sessions, and support through the process
- Interpret regulations, rules and guidance from GMC, EU and Gold Guide
- Offer guidance in carrying out JRCPTB duties
Deanery/HEE local office administrators
- Provide good practice examples from a national perspective
- Provide range of assistance from support to leadership in terms of work overlap, guiding on processes and expectations
- Provide mediator role between deanery and others where appropriate
