FAQs

Is it possible to acquire my CCT earlier than originally planned?

We have issued guidance for Specialist Advisory Committees on the process for recommending an earlier CCT date for trainees acquiring competencies more rapidly than anticipated.  This guidance should apply to all medical specialties supervised by JRCPTB but may be subject to variation depending on subsequent GMC advice.

I'm going on parental leave, what do I need to do?

Initially you will need to advise the deanery/HEE local office and JRCPTB of the date you intend to commence parental leave. On your return to clinical training you will need to fill out the completion date calculator with your date of return and if this will be on a full-time or less than full time basis and send to your deanery/HEE local office.

Can I get my training or certification verified?

For verification of your training, please contact the GMC directly or visit their website here.

Who can assess trainees?

For mini-CEX, ACAT and CBDs assessors can be any doctor with appropriate experience beyond CMT/IMT level (SpR/ ST3 grade and above). For DOPS assessors can be anyone with expertise in the procedure, including experienced nurses and allied health professionals as appropriate. Trainees should not be assessed by colleagues of the same grade (other than during multi-source feedback).

Do resident doctors have to pay to use the ePortfolio?

It is a requirement that resident doctors in training enrol with the JRCPTB, as stated in the "Gold Guide". An enrolment fee is payable when completing your enrolment. An ePortfolio access fee is also payable by resident doctors in service posts who are wanting to use the ePortfolio to record experience and acquisition of capability.
