About the role

We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented finance professional with strong analytical skills and a collaborative approach to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will combine sound financial experience and qualifications with excellent communication abilities, thrive in a fast-paced environment and be committed to upholding high standards of accuracy and compliance.

Key responsibilities
  • Support the Federation business to connect financial data and insights with strategy, enabling informed decisions that are aligned with financial goals
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, monthly reporting, and performance monitoring, including income/expenditure tracking
  • Provide financial information, reviews, analyses, and undertake other reasonable duties as required
  • Serve as a primary contact for day-to-day finance-related queries from business colleagues, offering guidance on accounting treatment, systems and processes including online payment platforms
  • Maintain the integrity of financial data and support an outsourced back-office processing team to ensure accurate financial processing
  • Assist with the implementation of a new accounting system (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) and new business systems
  • Assist with audits and overseas tax reporting
  • Support the Head of Finance and deputise when required

Associate Medical Director for Written Examinations

About the role

The Associate Medical Director for Written Examinations is a key role within the Federation clinical leadership team. The successful applicant will have overall responsibility for the clinical and academic leadership of the 13 written examinations: MRCP(UK) Part 1 and Part 2 Written; nine Specialty Certificate Examinations; and two European Specialty Examinations.

Key responsibilities
  • Support and work collaboratively with the Medical Director for Assessment and the Executive Medical Director.
  • Be responsible for the MRCP(UK) written and Specialty Certificate/European Specialty Examinations, ensuring that all academic objectives are met.
  • Ensure that written examinations meet the standards set by the regulatory body, the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Guide the academic development of the written examinations, including incorporating new technology into existing processes.
  • Oversee results analysis for the written examinations.
  • Ensure that robust examination quality management and governance frameworks are in place to highlight risks and concerns and supporting the development and implementation of mitigating actions.
  • Advise the 13 individual written examining boards, MRCP(UK) Management and Policy Board, the International Management and Policy Board, and the Specialty Certificate Examinations Steering Group on policy and academic matters to ensure the continued high standards of the written examinations. 
  • Organise, oversee, and guide the MRCP(UK) and SCE question writing meetings to ensure that all academic objectives and productivity targets are met.
  • Provide support and guidance to the assessment department in the continued production of high-quality examination papers.
  • Support the assessment department to ensure the sustainability of the question bank through regular audit, analysis, and review. 
  • Be responsible for the processes leading to selection, appointment, training, and performance monitoring of chairs, members and medical secretaries of examining boards, question writing groups, and standard setting groups, in collaboration with the Medical Director for Assessment.  
  • Support the international development of the written examinations, including identifying areas for expansion, liaising with partner organisations to deliver new examination centres, and exploring opportunities to develop new international examination formats working with the International Medical Director for Assessment. 
  • As an appointed Federation clinician, act as a conduit between the Examining Boards and its members and Federation Officers, CEO, and COO, ensuring constructive reciprocal communication and positive working relationships. 
  • Provide direction, support, and guidance to examining board chairs through formal annual appraisals. 
  • Advise on issues of academic quality, such as appeals, misconduct, and reasonable adjustment cases. 
  • Be a member of other Boards or Committees as requested by the Medical Director for Assessment. 
  • Adhere to the principles set out in the Federation Code of Conduct.
