Written exams standard review

From April 2025 all written examinations will have a standard review, which is a normal procedure that takes place every three years.

During the review process, the Standard Setting Groups (SSGs) for the MRCP(UK) Part 1, Part 2 and Specialty Certificate examinations consider if the current equated pass score is still valid and make recommendations to the Examining Board if they decide to change it.

As a result of the review and after Examining Board’s approval, the equated pass score can increase, decrease or remain unchanged.

The new equated pass score, if changed from the current one, will be applied at the next exam following the review meeting, or at a later date decided by the Examining Board.

Candidates will be informed about the new equated pass score and its implementation date in due course.
