Purpose of the role:
IMPACT (Ill Medical Patients' Acute Care and Treatment) is a two-day course covering many aspects of internal medicine stage 1 training, intended to enhance trainee confidence in managing the acutely ill/deteriorating medical patient. The course provides "state of the art" online patient simulation and peer reviewed up-to-date e-learning as preparation for an intense two-day face-to- face course. Key point presentations, workshops, "hands on" skills stations and critically ill patient teaching are given by trained senior doctors in a supportive environment.
The IMPACT programme is run by clinicians (National Director, Deputy Director, the Curriculum Review Group and Course Leads) with administrative and digital support provided by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, through an arm's length service level agreement (SLA). The programme falls under the oversight of The Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians (the "Federation") through its training division, JRCPTB.
Responsibilities:
The IMPACT Steering Group seeks to appoint an enthusiastic individual who is enrolled in a training programme which includes IMT Stage 2 at a level of ST4 or above to assist in the development of an innovative suite of blended-learning materials to support and enhance the IMPACT course. The post will be part-time (50%) and this will need to be agreed with the appointee’s hospital line management and Training Programme Director (TPD).
Time Commitment:
It is anticipated that the post will commence in February/March 2025 and will last for 18 months.
Remote working is possible for much of the project but some in-person meetings at the RCPSG building in Glasgow will be expected. All reasonable expenses will be paid in relation to this travel.
How to apply:
Please email IMPACTcentral@rcpsg.ac.uk with your CV and a covering statement outlining why you feel you would be a good fit for the role. Interviews will be held during early January 2025. The Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
