Removal of seven-year eligibility period for MRCP(UK) candidates

Following a review of examination regulations, MRCP(UK) has removed the requirement to complete the Diploma within seven years of passing Part 1 for candidates who passed before the 2013/02 diet.

Candidates who passed Part 1 in the 2013/01 diet or earlier and who did not go on to pass Part 2 Written and PACES within seven years, will now be able to proceed straight to sitting either examination without having to pass Part 1 again.

Candidates who plan to apply to sit PACES must have been clinically active in the intervening period since passing Part 1 to be eligible to sit the examination.

The regulation on the number of attempts still applies in these circumstances. Candidates will not be permitted to continue if they have had six or more attempts at the part(s) of the examination they still need to pass. Further information about Regulations can be found here.
