MRCP(UK) Part 2 2023/03: Tuesday 25 February 2025 Update

Latest update on the Part 2 examination results issue including information about an additional examination diet on 21 May 2025.
Presidents have approached SEBs

The Presidents of the three Royal Colleges of Physicians, on behalf of Federation, have written to the Statutory Education Bodies (SEBs) for the four UK nations, asking them to consider a range of options for those impacted candidates in UK physician training. They are currently awaiting a response.

Additional Part 2 examination diet for affected candidates arranged for May

We would like to advise candidates that, in addition to offering the option of sitting the next available diet of the Part 2 written examination on 26 March 2025, we are running an additional diet of the examination solely for the impacted candidates on 21 May. This will be ahead of the next planned diet set to run on 16 July.

If you originally indicated that you wished to sit the March diet but would prefer to sit in May, please let us know. Please also let us know if you wish to apply for both March and May diets by completing the from available here by Wednesday 12 March if you wish to sit the March exam and by Tuesday 22 April if you wish to sit the May exam.

Face to face meetings with clinicians

We are continuing to arrange online face to face meetings with candidates and senior clinicians in Federation to discuss their individual situations and circumstances.

If your examination outcome was impacted and you have not contacted us already, we would encourage you to do so via the online form soon as possible so that we have all the necessary information to facilitate a conversation with a senior clinician.  We will get back to you within 48 hours upon receipt of your form to arrange a convenient date and time for this meeting.

Further details will be published on our website and provided directly to impacted candidates later this week.

Webinar for candidates

We are planning to run a webinar with candidates whose examination outcomes were affected and representatives from the Federation and the colleges’ resident doctor committees. Details will follow soon.

Wellbeing resources

We are planning to provide access to wellbeing resources for candidates this week.

Issuing refunds

We will be providing guidance on the issuing of examination fee refunds by the end of this week.
