Changes to MRCP(UK) exam fees and JRCPTB training fees from July 2026

Fees will increase from 1 July 2026, in line with the UK CPI rate of 3.6%,

The Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK is committed to the continuous improvement of our services to doctors in training programmes, those who sit our examinations and use our ePortfolio. We work to ensure our exams and training programmes remain relevant and up to date, to enable the best possible care for patients by highly skilled physicians.

Due to the ongoing rise in inflation both in the UK and internationally, which continues to impact on our operational and delivery costs, the JRCPTB training fees and MRCP(UK) examination fees will increase from 1 July 2026, and the application periods for the 2026/03 examinations diet onwards respectively (check exam pages for dates). This increase is in line with the UK Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate of 3.6% in December 2025. We work hard to keep any increases to a minimum and in the case of JRCPTB training fees, this is only the second increase since 2013.

To ensure we are providing high-quality customer service for everyone sitting our examinations, undertaking medical training and maintaining their continuing professional development, we are continuing to invest in new systems and technology.

The fee increases will apply to the following:

  • Candidates sitting MRCP(UK) Part 1 and Part 2 written examinations and the PACES clinical examination, in the UK and internationally, from the 2026/03 examinations diet onwards. (check exam pages for dates).
  • Resident doctors in IMT/ACCS-AM and higher specialty training who enrol with JRCPTB from 1 July 2026.
  • Resident doctors in IMT/ACCS-AM and higher specialty training who are paying their training fees through an annual collegiate membership subscription with one of the Royal Colleges of Physicians from 1 July 2026.
  • SAS doctors who pay to access the JRCPTB ePortfolio from 1 July 2026.

This increase does not apply to any candidates sitting Specialty Certificate Examinations (SCEs), ESEGH or ESENeph, as the fees for these examinations remain unchanged.
