Mrs Christine Edmunds and Mrs Josie Wildman (Rt to Lt), Sandwell PACES Centre Administrators, have been awarded the PACES Champion Award 2025. Both have contributed to the delivery of assessment at the Sandwell General Hospital, now known as Sandwell Health Campus Birmingham, since its inception in Diet 1/2016. The Sandwell PACES Centre was the first PACES Centre, successfully delivering the Pandemic Time PACES Examination in Diet 3/2020, and was one of the first centres in the UK to deliver the new format of the PACES Examination (PACES23 format) in Diet 3/2023. The Centre runs PACES across all three diets.

Professor Moe Oo, Centre Host Examiner and Director of Medical Examinations, RCPSG, said, "On behalf of the Sandwell PACES Team, we are all incredibly proud of Chris and Josie for being awarded the PACES Champion Award. Both have played a pivotal role in delivering the assessment since 2016. Their impactful contributions to the assessment help the career progression of many resident doctors. In particular, I want to acknowledge that both have gone the extra mile to host the very first Pandemic Time PACES Examination with a hybrid format, safely and successfully, in the UK.

When I first began working toward establishing the PACES centre, the journey was filled with challenges, uncertainties, and enormous responsibilities. However, my close relationship with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and my strong belief in creating opportunities for young physicians inspired me to continue with determination.

Seeing Dhaka become an active PACES examination centre and witnessing candidates benefit from this achievement brought me immense satisfaction.

Being selected as an award-winning candidate for the PACES Champion Award 2025 gave me a profound sense of gratitude and pride. It reassured me that sincere effort, vision, and dedication are always valued. I also consider this recognition a tribute to core team members, colleagues, examiners, administrators, and team members who supported me throughout this journey. Most importantly, it motivates me to continue contributing to the advancement of medical training, professional excellence, and international collaboration in the years ahead"
