The Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK is seeking to appoint a highly motivated Deputy International Medical Director for Training and Development. The successful candidate will support the International Medical Director in overseeing the development and delivery of Internal Medicine Training programmes in our partner sites outside the UK.
Working with the International Medical Director and other Federation officers and staff, the Deputy International Medical Director is responsible for supporting the International Medical Director in ensuring that academic objectives and standards are met at every stage of the international development and delivery of curricula and training. The successful applicant will have a key role in working with Federation’s clinical and administrative staff to ensure that the standard of training meets the requirements for the programmes.
The appointee will be a Fellow of one of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, with a current licence to practise. The role will require frequent attendance at a variety of meetings within the UK, which are delivered on a hybrid basis, and occasional international travel. The balance of in-person versus virtual attendance will be up to the successful candidate to decide in consultation with the International Medical Director.
The appointee’s employer will be reimbursed for the equivalent of one PA per week, paid at standard rate (see job description document). The permission of the applicant’s employer must be obtained.
The post is offered on an initial three-year term. Subject to satisfactory performance, as agreed by the EMD, CEO and Federation Board Chair, the post may be offered for a second term of up to three years by mutual agreement. A two-term appointment is the maximum term that can be served.
